The Department of Public Health is recruiting for a Public Health Microbiologist III to oversee and perform microbiological, immunological and molecular biology testing on clinical specimens, and animal, food, water, and other samples.


Minimum Requirements


License: Must possess a valid Public Health Microbiologist Certificate issued by the State of California Department of Public Health (CDPH.) Applicants must attach a legible copy of the California Microbiologist Certificate with the application, or the application will be disqualified.

-AND-


Education/Experience: Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience options:

  • Option 1: A Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or other related field of study, -and- two (2) years (full-time equivalent) of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing in a state or local government Public Health laboratory or clinical laboratory.


-OR-


  • Option 2: A Master's degree or higher in Biological Science or other related field of study, -and- one (1) year (full-time equivalent) of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing in a state or local government Public Health laboratory or clinical laboratory.
