Behind the Scenes Peek at the New Public Health Lab’s Construction
San Diego County Public Health Laboratory is excited and eagerly waiting for the opening of it's state-of-the-art laboratory in the spring of 2025. The 52,000 square foot building is 3 times larger than the previously outdated and aging laboratory infrastructure.
Under the excellent leadership of Dr. Jeremy Corrigan (Lab Director), this expansion seeks to strengthen the county's infectious disease testing capability, enhance genomic sequencing surveillance for food and water safety and ensure a swift response to dangerous pathogens or biological threats to public safety.
The lab also aims to expand its teaching and training capabilities by providing innovative workspaces to host public health microbiologists training and response related activities with hospital partners from San Diego County and neighboring Imperial County.
