CalREDIE Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR)

California Reportable Disease Information Exchange Electronic Lab Reporting (CalREDIE ELR) allows organizations to comply with California public health requirements regarding laboratory reporting or reportable conditions through an automated, secure process.

♦ Zika Virus Infection’ is now available in the CalREDIE disease dropdown. Please use this condition to report all Zika Virus cases. The case report form for Zika Virus is under development and will be incorporated into CalREDIE when it is finalized. In order to allow local health departments to capture clinical, laboratory, and epidemiologic information for Zika Virus cases before the case report form is available, we have temporarily made the Unusual/Other Clinical, Laboratory and Epidemiology tabs available.

The following sections on each of these tabs should be completed for Zika Virus:

Clinical: Signs and Symptoms, Past Medical History Sections

Laboratory: Laboratory Results Summary Section

Epidemiology: Travel History Section

Any additional information can be entered in the Notes field on the Case Investigation tab.

Lastly, if you have already reported Zika Virus cases under “Unusual/Other”, please update the Disease Being Reported field to “Zika Virus Infection”.

Questions related to Zika Virus reporting can be directed to charsey.porse@cdph.ca.gov

♦ HIV/AIDS Laboratory Information CalREDIE ELR is NOW accepting Electronic Laboratory Results regarding HIV/AIDS information on behalf of CDPH Office of AIDS. Interested HIV ELR submitters should contact CalREDIEHelp@cdph.ca.gov for additional assistance prior to sending HIV laboratory results. Submitters should program their information systems to create HL7 v 2.5.1 ELR messages specifically limited to HIV/AIDS laboratory results. HIV-related results should not appear on the same HL7 message as results other than HIV. Submitting entities should continue to report HIV/AIDS laboratory results by traditional means (non-ELR) in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Please see the Office of AIDS page for more information: http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/aids/Pages/Default.aspx.
